Zamfara: Nurse slumps and die instantly while on duty

Asma’u Lawali Bungudu, a nurse employed by Ahmed Sani Yariman Bakura Specialist Hospital in Zamfara State, was certified dead after she collapsed while on duty in the hospital.

According to sources, Asma’u was in good health when she arrived at the hospital for her shift in the early hours of Wednesday but was pronounced dead a few hours later.

The hospital's spokesperson, Auwal Usman, confirmed the incident and stated that Asma’u was attending to patients in the NHIS Clinic, where she had checked the blood pressure of about 30 patients before she complained about a cardiac issue to a doctor.

Despite the doctors' efforts to save her life, Asma’u passed away on the spot. The hospital's management team, led by the Medical Director, Dr Usman Muhammad Shanawa, has handed over the corpse to the nurse's relatives.

According to a family member, Asma’u had no health complaints when she left for work on Wednesday and was buried according to Islamic injunctions at Malan Abdurrahaman House, Magama Area, Bungudu, by 5 pm that day.
